CLOSE command

Postby bolpx001 » Wed Sep 18, 2019 11:53 am

Hi Two question for the price of one, Can the CLOSE command be used and work 'In Play' and what happens if there is a very small amount out standing i.e several back and lay bets have been made and now I stand to lose 26p All my betting is automated and I am trying to cover all possibilities :)
as always many thanks and a brilliant product
best regards

Doesn't seem to be much about the CLOSE triggers except

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9763&p=50282&hilit=CLOSEC#p50282

But no reason it shouldn't work inplay as all triggers do. Might get a bit costly for you if it starts chasing prices every second especially in running where prices bounce all over the shop. I'd make sure you're aware of likely liabilities first, shouldn't be a problem if you're only cleaning up small amounts but if trying to fully close out a trade where only one side is filled it could be.

Thanks Captain Sensible
It works fine in "In Play" As you probably know all my betting activity is automated and as you suggested it is to tidy up smallish amounts but also has the added bonus of closing out uneven BACK/LAY pairs. i.e. if I am backing horse A at 2.0 and laying at 1.5 but for an unknown reason miss the LAY side of the bet fails it will even things out. Still don't know what happens to smallish or zero amounts.
When i find out I will post here :)
best regards

You might be better off simply letting those odds amounts runn rather than greening/redding them up. I'd guess they'd all even out over the thousands of markets we play automated and closing may mean crossing the spread which could be big in running and giving away a lot of value in the long run.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
