Lapsed Bets

Postby nick257 » Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:42 pm

Hi,

We're using "place_bets.xls" for automation.

Started seeing intermittent Lapsed bets, in the Betfair bet history web pages/log. We're using the trigger type is BACKSP (not using BACK-SP).

Have tried setting Market sheet cell "AA1" to both "Y" and "N" (the keep in play option), seems to have no effect.
Am using cell AA2 (tigger modifier) with "SP", and am correctly seeing "BACKSP" in column Q (Trigger).

My understanding of BACKSP is that it is supposed to ignore pre-race prices and go directly to SP? Have I missed something please?

Cheers
Nick

What is your stake? Min £2 for a back bet at BSP, or £10 liability for a lay bet.

Good point... stakes well above minimum... there's something else going on...

Yes you missed something. When I made that example spreadsheet BACKSP was not even a feature.

What's happening is the current back odds are being requested. This means the lowest odds you will accept for an SP bet. If the SP is lower the bet will lapse. You can modify the formula in column R to use the min/max odds so if you put 1.01 minimum odds on the selections sheet it will request BACKSP @ 1.01 which means it will always get matched at SP.

Copy the following formula to cell R5 then copy the formula down to R55.

Code: Select all
=IF($AA$2<>"SP",IF(AA5="BACK",AH5,AI5),IF(AA5="BACK",AD5,AE5))

Think I get the idea Gary..

have tweaked slightly so can use BACKSP and BACK-SP:

=IF(AND($AA$2<>"SP",$AA$2<>"-SP"),IF(AA5="BACK",AH5,AI5),IF(AA5="BACK",AD5,AE5))

Many thanks for prompt reply,

Cheers

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
