Betting Assistant Rocks

Postby WhyLose » Sun Jul 29, 2007 9:06 am

I just thought I'd post a short note to thank you both for what is, IMO, the best piece of software for virtually all purposes when using Betfair. I have used everything there is. The support you both provide is outstanding. I use it largely for automated strategies through Excel and trading. I notice so many posts to add this, change that, etc. etc. That's great because it's human nature to want to make things better. But for me, as it is, it's great. But I still look forward to its development using other suggestions made by people with far better ideas than me.

That's it really. Just a short note to start the Betting Assistant Appreciation Society. And I'm proud to be its first formal member. Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone,

First post here as I only stumbled across BA a couple of days ago, but I just wanted to add my 2c - i think this is one of the most inspired pieces of software I've come across! The excel functionality is simply brilliant! Now if only I knew more about excel...

Cheers,
alex

I'm sure Gary will tell you that he doesn't necessarily think that BA is the best software out there, but perhaps is the best value for money.
We would like to make it the best software and will keeep enhancing and improving it........that is a promise.
There are tons of suggestions from you guys and ideas of our own that we want to incorporate.
Even with Gary working full time on BA, there still doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.
Anyway from 1st November I will also be working full time with Gary so hopefully we can make some dents in those suggestions.

All the best,
Mark

0-5 = poor-ok.......5-10 = ok-outstanding

General layout 5/10

Aesthetically pleasing 7/10

Customizable options 8/10

Functionality 8/10

The amount of pc resource BA uses (is this
down to good programming ?) 9/10

BA's ability to keep functioning in a poor
internet environment (is this also down to
good programming?) 9/10

Support 9/10

Software stability 10/10

Value for money 10/10

If its not the best i'm sure with Gary's dedication, and also now with Mark joining him at the helm, it soon will be.

Is it possible the vote count is low because many BA users have no experience of alternative tools?

I've tried a few others recently and reckon more time should be spent on the layout as it does have that homemade feel to it. The screens are getting far too cluttered. Although having said I think you'd be pushed to find any software out there for the price and functions it now offers.

Reckon pug's post is pretty much spot on and having tried some of the oppostition I'm more than happy to stick with BA

I think moving the quick pick box will have a big effect on the 'look' as the betting options will look less cluttered and can, perhaps, be tidied up.

I've also tried most of the others - even purchased some of them - and I'm still here, which must say something.

Thanks for your support. We will be sorting out the betting options layout very soon as I have to admit, it is a mess.

I have been waiting for the new layout before voting on this ...... and now I have voted with a resounding 'YES'. I have used all the main competitors to BA in the past so am able to draw a direct comparison. Admittedly I am a simple minded tick trader, I can't do all the fancy stuff with excel so don't use all the features available. It was bothering me with the layout of the screen that in order to keep the pick list available I lost a third of the screen with a load of options that I don't need, but with the new layout it is fantastic, I can hide all the stuff I don't need to see and get on with the job.

If I had one comment it is that I would like the boxes on the ladder interface to be a little larger but that is a minor point. Er ..... Actually there is another point - I would like to be able to re-order the bet history so that the most recent is at the top.

Other than that, a good reliable bit of kit that does the job well. And when you rely on it for your living - that is important. Here's to a good year ahead.

You can re-order the bet history by clicking the column heading can't you ? Clicking date/time or bet ref should do it.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
