Getting other RP info - not just tissue price?

Postby JIFFIJAW » Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:37 pm

Hi All, Gary has posted a sample triggered betting example that additionally gets the Racing Post Tissue price by each selection. I'm a complete dummy at getting data from internet sites and have to rely on cutting and pasting and then sorting and then getting the BA Excel page to go and look up the horses name (having converted the RP name to the BF format -- no apostrophes, no days since last run, etc) and add the cut and pasted information to my selection calculations for the given race. How hard would it be to additionally get the RPR and the jockey name direct on to the BA Excel worksheet??

Gary refers to the winhttp commands and the relevant cell has "getTissuePrice(a5)" etc as the formula -- but what coding makes that "work". I'm happy to go and learn how to do this myself if someone can point me at what it is I should be looking at -- where do you learn how to do this kind of automated internet to Excel lookup and gather function?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
