Ok, let's discuss hardware!

My main reason for using BA is because I am not always at my PC and can therefore automate most of my strategies. Leaving BA to run on its own and interact with Betfair while one is not in front of the PC does raise some risks:

1. A power failure.
2. Lost internet connection.
2. Betfair site down.

Number 1 can be mitigated against to some extent by purchasing and installing a UPS to your PC and broadband internet router.

However, an affordable UPS will only supply power for a short lenght of time. So the aim in this scenario is to power the PC and internet for enough time for all open positions to closed. My question is that is there a software that can do this, or is it possible to achieve this with BA through some VBA code?

Number 3 you can not really do anything about.

Now to number 2, is there a software that can monitor your internet connection, detect when it's lost, and automatically reconnect. I am talking of broadband connection here, not dial-up. And yes, you do lose broadband connection.

Cheers
Dan

PS. I know there is the VPS solution, but in case one does not want to go down that route for various reasons.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
