Whats this horse racing all about??

This is my first post having just been trialling BA for the last few days... Its impressive and will be subscribing when my time has expired.

I have only just started using Betfair and have been using the football markets and making a reasonable bit of cash recently from laying draws and backing over 2.5 goals etc, from the Norwegian football league (a high scoring extravaganza...roll on the delights of the Premier League and SPL, I hate the summer!!). With a bit of research you can get all sorts of stats from around the world as I'm sure you all know and as a lover of the beautiful game I have a reasonable knowledge of it...

However... the frequency of football matches to horse races is poor and there is a lot of down time between fixtures.

As a complete novice to horse racing are there any beginners guides to start off with and any betting plans for a complete racing idiot like myself. (Trading, in race bets, etc) I have looked at a few races and have tried to do a bit of research on the Racing post website but my brain melted with all the figures, form figures and general racing terminology.

I'm not a big punter (come over all shaky when placing more than a tenner) and I have a bank of around 50 quid, so any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Where to start............

You could do alot worse than head over to this site and read the forums there. In my experience it is full of helpful people and info, as is this forum, although this forum is more to do with automated betting via Excel / Betting Assistant.
