Use LAY-SP. It won't actually place it at SP immediately but will convert it to an SP bet if not matched before the off. Specify odds that won't get matched before the off to ensure you get SP. eg. to lay for a £10 liability specify odds 1.1 and stake £100. The minimum liability accepted by Betfair is £10.

Is it possible to then Limit the odds of the SP lay so that I only have the liability if the odds are below a certain level?

You can specify the odds limit to lay/back via the Betfair site and API, don't think it's currently incorporated into Gruss though.

They're only available for pure BSP bets put direct into the BSP pool though and not the convert inplay type bets

You can use the BA for SP limiting but looking for a way to do this via excel so I can automate.

Thanks kevsy I only ever use one click via the interface just looked and saw the SP limit options are available.

As far as I know there's no excel trigger for placing bets direct to the SP pool and allowing those limit options. Maybe Gary could add a new trigger BSP or similar as it shouldn't take to much extra coding other than changing the betCategoryType and completing the bspLiability field that could be taken from the excel price and stake fields

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
