Help Required re Triggered Betting To Set Of Criteria

Postby dogform » Thu Sep 10, 2009 3:14 pm

Hi,

Would anybody please be able to advise me if there is an existing excel add on for Gruss that will place bets on a list of selections using the following variable conditions.

1. Market matched bets >= £2500 (variable)
2. Market bet book =< 105% (variable)
3. Time before off =< 30 seconds (variable)
4. Stake calculated by app to return 100% book, ie, £25 on 3/1, £20 on 4/1 etc.
5. Option to bet more than 1 runner per race.
6. Market depth of selections to be within variable selected limits.

Ideally, I would like the application to run unattended from one race to the next, processing the list of selections as it goes at refresh rates just under the data charge level.

I would prefer to stick with a Gruss add on solution but all options considered.

Have a look at this thread for a spreadsheet Gary has set up for betting specific horses.

I should think it could be easily adapted for greyhounds and your criteria if they are not already covered.

Ian,

Thanks for the link. I think that it is along the lines of what I hope to get but needs refining.

For example, the stake is pre-determined rather than calculated on a 100% book stake plus some of the other criteria I need are not present. I am sure that it could be used as a starting point but my excel skills are not strong enough for me to try to update it with confidence.

The "Trigger" needs some additional IF and AND statements to get it to meet my conditions or perhaps some extra columns as well as updates to the "Trigger".

I suppose I could put the updates to this workbook as a request to the excel developers sub forum, there should be a few coders there who can update it.

I'll have a look at it for you over the weekend.

I'm pretty sure your first 5 criteria are pretty simple to implement.

Not sure about what you mean by no 6 though.

Ian.

Ian,

Thx for the kind offer to look at it for me.

Re condition number 6, it refers to the spread between the back and lay price of the selection, apologies for the lack of clarity, I should have phrased it better.

I would like to control the width of the spread between the back and lay price as a condition, for example if the bet price was 3.3 and the lay price was 4.3 that would be 20 units of 0.05. I would like to be able to implement a condition using the minimum and maximum vale for this spread in terms of 0.05 units.

I'm not sure that will work properly eg 2.1 to back and 3.0 would be less than 20 "units" so would trigger a bet, which I assume you wouldn't want to do.

It would be better to use Betfair "ticks" or have a criteria where the last side must also be greater than, say, 95%.

Ian,

I agree, the Betfair "ticks" scale would be OK.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
