Betfair's in-running bet matching

Postby doris_day » Fri Oct 09, 2009 3:37 pm

There are some seriously odd things going on with the horse racing in-running markets this week and it seems to me that either the API is 'sticking' or the bet matching engine can't keep pace.

I have heard that the new version of Bet Trader Pro has had to be withdrawn because of refresh issues that the API couldn't handle and I really think something is going on that most of us are not aware of.

It would be good to hear of any others who are having similar problems.

I know I'm pretty paranoid about bet matching but I've been doing this for a few years and know intuitively when things are not as they should be.
The same thing is happening from all 3 of my independent servers, so I know its not just a localised ISP issue.

I know it's not much comfort but my In Running bots have been fine- in fact I've had a pretty good week.

I'm also very dependant on efficient bet matching (I guess we all are) so I understand your worries but sometimes you just have those kind of weeks.

Maybe it's just the end of the flat season and all that- easy pickings over the summer coming to an end. I had a bit of a strategy re-jig recently as I didn't do too well in september and now all seems well.

Roll on the jumps I say.

I've re-analysed my data and think you might be right. This month is generally good for me however but I think, after further thought, what's happened this week is probably just random and I'll have to grin and bear it.
Had a great week last week which makes me feel a little better.....There is no doubt though that the site is starting to stuggle again and needs a bit of a helping hand......

I run some of my own bots and there are definitely problems with some of the API calls which I imagine was the reason why they pulled EVo and the geekstoy. I'd have thought the ladder would be most affected

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
