In Running with Multiple Tabs

Postby coco999 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 8:10 pm

Hi

I`ve been running some in-running excel triggers with relative success on 1 tab and throttling set to 10. Run on VPS getting refresh of 200ms with latency <5

Today i thought i would be adventurous and opened a second tab on BA linked to a second copy of my excel sheet.
The refresh was still <300 but latency was around the 170 mark. However the triggers have activated and matched some but missed most of the required odds.

Does anyone know if this is because of the 2nd tab/excel sheet running in BA? or just a bad day or because of the throttling?

Thanks
Andy

The latency figure is misleading when the requests are being throttled as it also includes the time the request waited in the queue while being throttled. I will be releasing an update later which shows the true figure. The refresh rate is correct though so if it says 300ms it is refreshing every 300ms.

I would say it was just a bad day. Also if you want two tabs refreshing at 200ms you have to take into account it needs to make two requests per tab every 200ms to update which is 20 so you need to set the throttling to 20, but be careful you are not using another application or the website as this is the limit before Betfair start charging.

Thanks Gary

Why 2 requests per tab?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
