Question Re backing Horses in-running

Postby Stu77 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 2:16 am

Hi Gary.

I was just wondering how to back a horse at pe-defined odds in-running using Betting Assistant.

For Example: If i lay a horse at odds of 3.00 pre race but want to Back the horse at say odds of 2.00 in-running for a level loss if he odds drop this low, how do i go about setting this up.

Thanks, Stu.

Before placing the lay bet:

1) Select the stop loss options tab
2) Select "Odds" ("Offset ticks" is selected by default)
3) Enter 2 in the odds box
4) Tick "Level loss"
5) Tick "Enabled"

Don't forget to untick "Enabled" after placing the bet otherwise each subsequent bet will have a stop loss.

Thanks for that Gary. One other quick question.

How do i place a single bet in running to get matched at pre-defined odds.

For example : If i wanted to back the field in-play at odds of 1.50 how would i go about placing this bet pre-race so that it went in play. I tried it using the Conditional Bets function but the bets weren't triggered so i guess i was doing something wrong. Thanks.

I'm afraid if you want to back the first horse which prices reaches 1.5 then it cannot be done with conditional betting as you could end up backing another horse if it's price also reaches 1.5 and I am sure this is not what you are after. This can only be done with Excel triggered betting.

No Probs Gary, Must say, Betting assistant its far and away the best Betting Software i've seen so congrats on all the improvements. I was using the older Betfair trader software up until recently and didn't realise the Betting Assistant had added all the new features.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
