Working again now. Appears to be intermittent. I will monitor for the next 30 minutes then report it to Betfair if necessary.

I didn't see any API problems during the last 30 minutes. Has anyone else?

It's been pretty good on the whole as far as I know. There have been occasional hiccups like today. We certainly haven't had many complaints from users.

Good to hear. Looking forward to a hike in the in-running liquidity from Chelters onwards (or even before if we're lucky)....

Well, that's been a poor return. Refresh started out OK for the first couple of races and then went downhill rapidly.
Bloody hell, Betfair need to get their act together before Cheltenham or the site will come to a grinding halt.
Perhaps we've seen the best of it however.......which would be a great shame......

Hi Doris, BTW I didn't notice any API response issues all afternoon, might be something else affecting your connection maybe...........

As others will know by now, I'm very sensitive about refresh times, only because my own algorithms require the bet matching servers to be working correctly and as efficiently as possible.

I have a number of connections to Betfair and its rare to find any one of them struggling except my own Virgin Media at home. The remote connections use multiplexed ISPs so its unusual for all of them to have problems at the same time. Therefore slow refresh times are generally down to a combination of API and bet matching servers. In my opinion, since the last upgrade which caused all the problems others found, the bet matching has had issues and its quite clear today for instance that the Betfair servers are struggling to keep pace.

I can only hope that the situation will be rectified before Cheltenham, just like it was last year.

Well there ya go. I eat my own words. The refresh from my 2 servers became so slow I decided to do a test and try from my home PC. Low and behold the refresh was just what it was supposed to be.

Seems then that there is a possibility that Betfair are having ISP selective server issues as they had before. Unless of course both my remote server providers are having their own issues independently from Betfair. I'll investigate further.

Things are never as straightforward as you think they should be :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
