Flat, Jump or NH (National Hunt) Horse Races

Postby ADDA » Sat May 15, 2010 11:12 am

Hi All,

I am looking for a way in the betting assistant and excel interface to determine if a horse race is a flat race or a jump (NH) race.

I have noticed that certain races display a normal looking race name such as
Plump 9th May - 16:10 3m1f Hcap Hrd - which has a race time of 6 minutes
when I correspond this to the following website which contains standard race times: http://www.racingpost.com/horses/course_list.sd
and look up the race time for Plumpton, i see that the race times available and that match the time above are for Jump races.

The concerning issue is that for some courses such as Lingfield (Ling), they offer both flat and jump race times. Is there anyway to tell these different races apart?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Adda,

I fairly certain that the Betfair coding convention is

Hrd = hurdle
Chs = chase
blank or NHF = flat

I'm not sure how the standard times on the RP site differentiate between hurdle and chase times though?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
