In-running horses today

Postby doris_day » Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:44 pm

Anyone noticed how long it takes for bets to appear as being matched today ?

There's also someone playing for tiny stakes which is becoming a pain.

By tiny I mean 0.24p to 0.80p or thereabouts.

As far as the speed of bet matching is concerned, here's an interesting one.

Generally over the past week or two things haven't been too bad, although the liquidity is down because of all the other stuff on offer. Today though I noticed a huge speed reduction in bets appearing as having been matched in excel. The only difference I could think of to my setup today is that I installed Chrome and have been using that as my browser. A friend suggested it was better than my usual Firefox. It was since I installed Chrome that things went slowly (although the browser itself seems quite quick).

I decided to uninstall Chrome, reboot the PC and see if anything changed. Lo and behold my bet matching appeared to be back to normal.

Was this a coincidence or could Chrome have been affecting things outside of the browser enviroment ? I don't know enough about how these things work and would be interested to hear from other Chrome users who also use Gruss and Excel.

Interesting to hear Doris Day. I don't do in-play but I use Excel and Gruss to trade pre-race and I also have chrome installed. I will keep the same settings as normal but will uninstall chrome and see what happens tomorrow as my program does rely on fast submission.

Will report back tomorrow if I can see any differences.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
