Back the field problem

Postby tom24 » Fri Feb 18, 2011 4:05 pm

Hi, I am having a problem with back the field. I am setting the back price at 1.20 for a very low test stake , but when I submit the bets, they are getting matched at full starting price which increases my apparent liability.
I understood that the bets would not get matched until any horse reached 1.20. Can anybody help with this please, thanks, Tom.

I think you misunderstand how the feature works, when you back the field the software simply submits a bet on every runner using the odds that you have specified and that happens as soon as you click the button. Now if better odds are available than requested you will get matched at the higher odds due to Betfair's "Best Execution"

If you are only wanting bets to be submitted when the odds reach a specified point then you would need to use the Conditional Bets feature or Excel triggered betting.

Mark

You need to add the column to the grid.

Please see Conditonal Bets in the User Guide:-

However, the feature is quite limited, e.g. there aren't any field bet options it is more for monitoring individual runners.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
