Service Announcement: Live updates to Australian race times

Postby Shaun » Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:22 am

Just wondering how this may effect us or if you will need to adjust program.

Code: Select all
On 19 April 2011 Betfair will be making developments to its racing markets in order to facilitate live updates to race times.

Alterations to scheduled thoroughbred, harness and greyhound race times are not uncommon as a result of falls, schedule changes, ambulance absences etc., but are presently not displayed in Betfair’s markets.

From 19 April 2011, official declared alterations to race times will be represented on the Betfair interface, as well as in its operating systems.

For API users, we feel it is important to provide the most current information available. Both the market suspend time and market time will be updated.

We also felt it important to provide advance notice regarding the changes, firstly to provide the opportunity to make any required changes to applications in order to accommodate race time updates.

Secondly, we welcome any feedback you have regarding the change prior to its rollout. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our Helpdesk on 1300 BETFAIR (1300 238 324) or via email ausinfo@betfair.com.

The Betfair Team.

Betting Assistant will not be affected by this change. It just means the times on the exchange will be updated should the scheduled times change.

This does not mean that if you have had the market open for hours the start time displayed will change, but if you was to refresh the markets list and reopen the market it could potentially display the revised time. This was always true of any market, Betfair could change the scheduled time after you have opened it.

BA does not check for revised times after you have opened a market so it will work exactly as before.

Yes if you want to check for revised start times then you would need to use the -3 trigger to reload the quick pick list. If you do absolutely nothing though you are no worse off than before. I have no plans to make BA do this automatically.

Hi guys
correct me if i am wrong..This change applies at all markets? If yes it would be a helpful addition at horse markets.Sometimes there is a delay at a specific market and i think it would be fine to have automatically rearrange the order of the start time..

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
