Can anyone help me out? I often need to change the default lay stake but I find that the only way I can only get BA to apply the change is to close the application and start again. It would be so much more convenient if I could make the change and get straight back to work.
Am I missing something really obvious?

You shouldn't need to close the application. Open preferences and change the stake in the staking tab. Next time you change market it will use the new default stake.
The default stake is only applied when you first open a market so it will not apply to a market you already have open so just change to another market and back again, no need to close the application.
