Auto green up!

Postby GaryRussell » Thu Sep 22, 2011 12:56 pm

We have implemented auto green up. It simply simulates the auto close button being clicked at a specified number of seconds before the start of the event. If the bets aren't matched instantly it tries again until all matched to ensure you aren't left with open positions.

We would be grateful if anyone could try this out and give feedback before we release the auto update.

Install from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... _Beta2.msi

To activate auto close simply right click on the close all positions button and enter the number of seconds. A countdown will appear beneath the button to show it is active. It can be cancelled by clicking the red cross.

Once we are happy with the feedback we will implement an Excel trigger for this.

Only problem I have with the auto green button is that it's not necessarily the most efficient way of greening up a market especially if you're bookmaking or similar as it treats each runner separately for greening rather than the overall market.

Early days but so far for me it appears to be working fine :)

Have tried it on a few greyhound races and it has functioned fine with
between 1 and 4 requiring greening/reding up - virtually instant! (2 tabs btw).

Could you please confirm that it does not work if the ladder interface is
showing instead of the grid interface - does it disable itself if you switch
back and forth but then leave it set on grid interface, even though timer still shows?

Thanks - Michael

It doesn't work if ladder is displaying. It does not disable itself when switching between grid and ladder. As long as the grid interface is displayed before the due time then it should work.

2020vision: This version also includes the fix for the my active markets problem you were having. Can you confirm if you agree it is now solved?

OCO = "One Cancels Other" order -:
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/oco ... z1YhZ6Zbeu

So for example ...

1) Pre-race you BACK horse/team for £50 @ 1.54

Then you place an in-running OCO order which consists of 2 parts...

2) Lay £64.71 @ 1.19 (Green Up)

3) Lay £22 @ 3.5 (Stop Loss)

Whichever of 2) or 3) is matched first immediately cancels the other order. I think this would be very good functionality if possible for races/matches that cannot always be monitored 'live'.

There already is a very similar function where you combine stop loss with tick offset.

Enter both tick offset and stop loss settings before you place the back bet. The difference is the lay bet will be placed as soon as the back bet is matched, you do not wait for in play. You can tick "Keep in play" before placing the back bet so that the lay bet is kept in play so you get the same result. If the tick offset bet is matched the stop loss will not be placed. If the stop loss is fired it cancels the tick offset bet.

I have made a small but important change. It now updates the prices and your bets just before the auto close. This is so you can have a slow refresh rate, but still have it based on the latest information just before it greens up. Please uninstall and re-install to get the update.

Have wanted this feature for ages which leads to a couple of quick questions if I may?

1) Is it possible to have it set for the following scenario by any chance?
To automatically fire at a preset time when each market is automatically
selected even when not connected to Excel?
e.g. I submit early bets then set BA running while I am out and have each
market loaded and then closed 20 seconds before the off? (Ideal for me btw).

2) Do you have an idea of when the Excel trigger might be included?

Might be asking a lot but you never know,eh?

All the best - Michael

1) I will see what I can do.

2) Possibly next week.

Thanks for including this as I know it is something that I myself have asked for before.

Not that there is any rush but how portable is this to the betdaq version? Or would it have to be re-writtten entirely? Not something that I would scream from the rooftops for but a nice feature nonetheless.

Also looking forward to the excel trigger. Cheers again.

It's very portable to the Betdaq version. I'll see if I can fit it in over the next few weeks.

Just tried to give a try to the new function

Haven't read careful this thread before, but what 2020 suggests i think is crucial
I can't see any reason to use it if i have to be "on screen" other than a cold blood decision maker... :)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
