For those interested in arbitrage

Postby doris_day » Thu Jun 28, 2012 3:39 pm

The guys I know at Rebel Betting have just sent me an interesting email about a new company which, to my mind, are going to offer something too good to be true. They are here:http://www.yobetit.com/

I've been involved in arbitrage for many years in one form or another and I dont have a clue what these guys can be up to, so I wouldn't part with any money if I were you.

I've emailed them to ask more about their model and I'll post any reply I get.

Bjorn and Simon at Rebel are bright guys and unlikely to go in with scammers but until I know more about their operation I'm keeping an open mind.

I've received this newsletter from Rebelbetting. I don't understand the interest for this book to create arbitrage opportunity !? :?

My logic is that arbs are only available if at least one of the prices is value and therefore for Yobetit to go out of their way to create arbs means they are going to be on the wrong side of many prices they're offering. Bookies hate arbers for good reason, so I can't see how Tobetit can make a profit. Bjorn from Rebel told me that they have a novel way of handling the risk but it'll be interesting to see if it can work in practice.

Can't see any address at their web site or is it me?

Why, would anybody invest money in a company without full contact details?

That's simply the people running their affiliate program. The Tobetit server is a VR server in Panama,

Here is the reply I got from Yobetit:
"All Yobetit odds that we publish always creates an arbitrage opportunity together with our premium bookmakers. More than 100 risk parameters have been implemented in the platform, which always secure a decent arbitrage for the trader as well as a margin for Yobetit.

The premium bookmakers that supports us do like arbitrage traders as it gives them a higher turnover and faster risk management."

Which in my mind says nothing.

You cannot possibly have a system where Yobetit, the other bookies and the arbitrageur all make money in the longrun. That's like saying you've invented the perpetual motion machine.

I've got an open mind but cant see how this can possibly work.

Hmm, i'm often not very confident in systems with member's founding (frequently ponzi in sports betting arbitrages)

so wait and see

Rebel Betting is a company I have dealt with for almost a year and I hold in high regard so was partcularily interested to hear about their linkup with Yobetit but like you Doris I too am keeping an open mind until I know more.

Incidently, Yobetit are expecting to launch sometime this year but checking out their website there is for me a paucity of information re the mechanics of their operation. The emphasis seems to me to be more on buying shares in the company.

On speaking to Bjorn at Rebel he also has a bit of an open mind, though they have had meetings with the guys and he thinks they're genuine.
Not impressed by their website which is just a sales pitch to sell shares. Why anyone would buy shares in a company that can't really explain what they're exactly going to be offering strikes me as optimistic at best.

This was always going to turn out to be an attempt at a Ponzi scheme and now various "partners" are distancing themselves from the company.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
