BDP has just closed my account without notice.

On enquiry i received an email saying my account activity had a business profile and i needed to get a business licence.

Gruss had been running on automatic for about 3 months without any betting activity.

Does anyone know what the threshold level of activity is to stop an account being closed.

That happened to me too. Ironically it was actually paying their £200 per month charge for professional api access on another account as I was trying to design a python interface for automated betting. Anyway, I used to have a version of gruss always open on one of the desk tops screens so I could develop an "eye" for the the markets. Didn't place any bets and they sh1t that account down without any warning. Just email their bdp team and explain that you didn't know there was a threshold for bets placed to use gruss, explain that you haven't been using it for any commercial reasons and that you will happily place bets using gruss in the future. They should reinstate the account. Incidental, they don't seem to require much in the way of bet turnover to keep them happy, which makes the whole thing kinda stupid anyway given that if somebody or another bookie was using the data in some way they'd do so by placing the odd bet. It's another example of Betfair cutting off it's nose despite its face....rules that seem logical at boardroom level but are in fact completely counter productive at the level of implementation. Oh well...that's a big company for you...

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
