Just wondering if BA is involved at this early stage.

I'm following that thread since it started and the main changes seem to be the introduction of JSON and some other functionalities that will improve speed (like getting private and public information in the same request). But the truly new thing is that apparently Betfair will introduce a subscription paradigm along side with the current Request/Response meaning that price changes will be available to all at the same time (at least in paper). This will change lots of things. I'm curious of how they will do it.

They've been on about moving to JSON for ages this blog had some of the available url fields back in May

http://jhw.github.com/blog/2012/05/10/b ... -json-api/

I've been waiting for ages for them to switch as JSON is easy to parse and the new api will allow us to call multiple markets and field types in the same request. Certainly shouldn't be too hard for Gary to recode the api calls and hopefully will bring extra benefits when it's finally live. Doubt it's worth them getting involved til it's released though as Betfair have a track record of releasing buggy versions earlier on, probably best to wait til any bugs are ironed out before spending valuable time on it.

We haven't been involved yet, but will be keen to take advantage as soon as it's released.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
