Refresh rate not always available from Excel logging sheets?

Postby Joe68 » Fri Feb 15, 2013 3:26 am

Have been playing with the refresh rate on an Excel sheet connected for logging. Enter a value in cell Q2 and it gets passed to the relevant page in BA.

However, it doesn't seem to work all the time.

For example, the label "Refresh Rate" only seems to appear in Cell P2 approximately 5 minutes before the jump.

Similarly, values entered in cell Q2 are not passed back to BA until approximately 5 minutes before the jumP.

Is that expected behaviour? Is there a setting somewhere to vary the time before jump at which this is activated?

I want to use Excel to code increasingly frequent refreshes as the jump time approaches.

Curiouser

I started with an Excel logging sheet which had already had a market associated which had active refresh rate passing back from Excel.

I re-associated a race 3.5 hours in the future with that same, used sheet.

Refresh rate working hunky dory.

I created a new worksheet. Created a new BA page with the exact same race, set up Excel logging that page to the new worksheet - no refresh rate communication back to BA from this page.

With the old, established, refresh-rate-enable worksheet, I seem to be able to log any market to it and I still get refresh rates passed back to BA. However, the new worksheet doesn't have a label for "Refresh Rate" @ cell P2 and I've associated it with a number of races with varying times to off.

Anybody else get this behaviour?

Hi

Never seen the refresh rate label missing and as far as i know it's a default part of the excel link.

Are you sure you don't have some vba that is constantly clearing that cell ?

If you new non working sheet has some code attached to it try a new blank workbook linked to ba, what does that do?

Thanks for your suggestions Yorkie.

There's no code clearing the cell. All the logic so far is in-cell.

New blank workbooks sometimes have the refresh rate and sometimes don't. They seem more likely to have it closer to jump time.

Has anybody seen this?

Found the solution

Refresh rate label only exists and refresh rate data is only passed back to BA when trigger betting enabled.

I suppose that makes some sense in that trigger betting is the major data that would need to be passed back to BA.

Still, wouldn't it be nice not to have to risk betting exposure simply to be able to change the refresh rate from Excel?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
