Dangerous links

Postby GeorgeUK » Sat Dec 23, 2006 3:18 am

As most of you have probably noticed, the board has been the target of spammers lately.

After browing the betfair forum, it appears that some betfair punters have been the target of hackers.
(can't find that thread now :()
Probably someone providing a link - which some people go to and it downloads a keylogging program which basically records what you type.

If you do not have antivirus software and antispyware/malware programs, i would suggest the following free programs
AVG : grisoft's free antivirus program
lavasoft's adaware : free spyware/malware remover

I also use pandasoftware's free online antivirus checker. Can take a while, but worth the effort.

Hopefully no-one here's been affected so far.

I also recommend AVG anti virus and noticed just recently they also have an anti spyware program.

I think these spammers were bots and not humans so I have taken a simple, but I hope effective measure to stop them. Unfortutanely if it is a filthy human spammer then I'll just have to delete the post as soon as I spot it.

I use the following free programs:
-fire wall: Zone Alarm free (for non-business use only)
-antivirus: Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic , free
-spyware/malware remover: Lavasoft Adaware, free ; SpyBot search & destroy, free ( both of them; it is indicate two independent spyware/malware remover)
All of this programs is recomanded by Microsoft.

For WindowsXP users I have recomande to use a firewall ather than XP's firewall. Why? Because the XP's firewall it is block only the incoming unauthorised request and the outgoing unauthorised (most of them created by uncleaned or unrecognized spyware/malware) it's flying free like the birds from un open cage.
All the programs updates do it your self, do not let to update automaticaly even the antivirus, firewall and spyware/malware remover programs. You may stop this from program options or stop the services in Administrativ Tools in Control Panel.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
