Applying Sort Order To Horses In Excel Linked Worksheet

Postby dogform » Sat Sep 07, 2013 12:30 pm

Hi,

Is there a means of applying sort orders to the runners in a horse race to an excel linked workbook?

I have applied a "saddlecloth" sort order in Gruss which works OK, however, this is not cascaded through to an excel workbook if it is linked to Gruss.

I may have missed a setting somewhere for this?

I think the sort order for the horses has always used the original sort order applied by Betfair from the time the market was accessed. The reason being that it would mess up peoples formulas if that order changed and bets had been placed (favs flip flopping etc). And realistically if you're automating things the order of how they appear on screen is pretty much irrelevant as there's plenty of excel functions to order for betting.

Sorry but I'm lost here. Does it simply mean that excel linked workbooks don't work?

They work but the order is not sorted
If you want to sort them you must do it by yourself IN excel with formulas etc

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
