time delay between bets

Postby soccergeez » Thu Dec 28, 2006 6:26 pm

Is there a way to put a time delay between bets using the triggered betting in Excel?

Basically when all my criteria are met a bet is fired in and then the reference instantly cleared - however this often results in another 3/4 bets being fired if all the criteria are still current, if there is a way to add in a time delay between bets this would obviously stop happening - or is there another way around the problem?

Many thanks in advance if you can help.

Hi soccergeez

I usually get around this by putting a time delay on clearing the bet, example below :-

IF(AND(T5>0,U5>0,V5>1.01,(U5+"00:00:15")<C2),"CLEAR"

Basically there must be a value in T5,U5 and odds matched in V5 then the bet will clear 15 secs after the time stamp in U5 (Bet time).
I'm not sure if this helps you but it's one way around the problem.

If you want to clear the bet only after the full stake is matched, try the following for a stake of £10

IF(AND(T5>0,U5>0,V5>1.01,W5=10,(U5+"00:00:15")<C2),"CLEAR"

Cheers

Thank you for your reply Castillo, I now have the following formula but it keeps saying there is an error in the formula, any ideas??

=IF(AND(T5>0,U5>0,V5>1.01,(U5+"00:02:00)<C2),"CLEAR",IF(T$16>5,"LAY","PENDING"))

I previously had this formula which worked fine but obviously didnt have the time delay included as I didnt know how to do it!!

=IF(T5>0,"CLEAR",IF(T$16>5,"LAY","PENDING"))

Can you see what I have done wrong at all?

In the example you posted you're missing the " on the time - should read as

=IF(AND(T5>0,U5>0,V5>1.01,(U5+"00:02:00")<C2),"CLEAR",IF(T$16>5,"LAY","PENDING"))

I am interested in seeing how much money is in the market and if there is more backing or laying certain selections at various times during the day, would it be possible to record this information in Excel using a similar formula to the one above?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
