daylight saving change time problem:
is there i fix for this please.
i am new to gruss and have had some very good VBA written for me - but it is stalling when it gets to the nsw races bec the api race time is different to the true time.

Just a suggestion but GRUSS needs a box somewhere in the preferences where you get the option of adjusting the BF time that is in the API.

if it happens in NSW today it will also happen in the other sates i suggest - else BF needs to be more careful with their times - i mean its not hard - micrsoft keeps a tally and adjusts through windows automatically

Guys I have been at Betfair - at pretty senior levels - for years. And they admit that it is pretty poor that given they claim to be a technology company they can not adjust clocks properly but they also consider it of low importance. I have pointed out that clocks have been around for a while as has daylight saving ...... and Betfair are the only organisation that I know of that can not adjust clocks appropriately.

I know gruss have a solution and it MIGHT be in the upcoming edition. I certainly hope so as betting manually today is excruciating.

some forum comment from australia which may contain the key to getting around this:

Just my annual reminder to those BF users out there that may not be aware that every year on this special day they manage to stuff up the start times of many Aussie meetings.

Some are showing an hour before jump time, some an hour after, have fun linking up your bots etc, I know I always do...

Ahh a bit of nostalgia.

My bot deals with this by using external references for start times. So I have no issues. This is due to the fact that I was 'revolutionary' in my approach when I built it. By that I mean that BF couldn't even work out that start times change for the first 5 years of their AU operation. So once a race was put back all the best laid plans went to s... So I must have been doing something 'revolutionary' that they couldn't?? . Its funny looking back.

On that front nothing changes we still deal with errors every day so that our clients don't have to.

If a bot is written correctly then it should use the markettime field. This is a long (which is a very large number in programming) with the number of seconds since a certain date. So regardless of display time the timing of your bot should be spot on.

I have noticed numerous display time errors today but the actual markettime field has been perfect. There has been no issues at all if using this field.

Yes, it's not really an issue of 'things not working', rather just a PITA linking up to excel.

There really is no excuse for this to be a continuing issue year after year.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
