Betting In running on course

Postby alexIP » Wed Dec 31, 2014 5:07 pm

Ive been playing from home for around a year and after relative success want to move onto the racecourse and play from the boxes. After contacting a few courses they have all told me i would have 2 rent a whole box. Ive heard of a guy called jeff button who sells individual seats, does anybody now how u contact him or how to go about getting into the IR track scene?

Never heard of him before. Googling him doesn't yield any results either.

button hasnt got all the rooms/box's..plenty others run the box's on course....its a sort of in house thing..if you know the boxholders you can get seats or they use a facebook group to buy and sell.

Sorry for hijacking the topic but i always wondered about the dynamics of the horse racing tracks and markets and you guys seem to know the inner workings. I always traded other markets that are a lot different from the horses, they have a decent amount of volume pre-in play that is evenly distributed (more or less) with a lot of relatively small orders (which implies a lot of small bettors). Sometimes there seems to be some big punters or bookies hedging their books but that's not the rule. These markets usually are low volatility markets and apparently with little inside information. Sometimes some big punters start to beat Pinnacle or some other large bookie and the markets moves to some new equilibrium but often they are low vol markets.
In the horses i see a large difference between pre in play and inplay volume and it seems to be a market of few large orders with big moves on prices right before the off. It seems to be a market of insiders, so i wonder who is feeding the market? Who is taking the other side of this apparently successful traders on the track. Is it the bookies covering their naive costumers? It doesn't seem to be the case because most of the volume is made inplay and im not seeing the casual punter placing a lot of in play bets. Is it like some of the financial markets (like FX) with lots of pseudo advanced investors firing their naive bots at each other while the brokers and exchanges collect their fees?
If someone who knows this markets could shed some light that would be great. Thanks.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
