Horse 'N' Hound

Postby Michal » Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:00 am

Hi,

Yesterday I didnt place a bet because my horse did not match the Betfair name. I am aware that appostrophies are not being used in Betfair and I strip mine from my names however this horse was left unbet which meant that the name in the market was not the same unfortunately I was not at home to see this and couldnt load the race back into BA to check and was wondering if anyone might have any thoughts on that.
I had Horse N Hound.

Thanks

Michal

I haven't looked at this in detail, but I would strip out all apostrophes and spaces, convert everything to lowercase and then do a comparison.

There have been two horses recently which have appeared to have had an unusual character in the name when put into Excel via BA.

Hi,

I got the solution to this when the horse has a name with 'N' the conversion is "n" so my
Horse 'N' Hound becomes
Horse n Hound

I base this on the spelling of another horse from the other day that had the same 'N' in its name and the corresponidg change was applied.

If you put
Code: Select all
Option Compare Text

at the top of your vba code it will ignore case for comparison purposes.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
