Logging bet results

Postby Frinck » Fri May 02, 2008 3:48 am

Hi,

I haven't implemented this as yet, but before I do, I have a couple of questions that you might have the answer to...

First off, what's the latest amount of time after a race is run that results are generally known? Things like photo finishes and stewards enquiries can really put a delay on things, but generally speaking can anyone give me some kind of steer please?

For many of us, the key to any automated results gathering (and consequently, staking plan) is the speed the results can be obtained. Other posts have highlighted this. I guess a large percentage of results will be available within minutes of a race, but in the event of a delay, how will the bet results worksheet react?

For example, if I had a trade in race 1 that didn't have the result coming through at the time of the next market auto-select to race 2, will that race result be lost forever? Or will it be updated on the auto-refresh to race 3?

Any guidance would be much appreciated,
Frinck.

The bet results are obtained by querying your account statement so it is reliant on how quickly Betfair settle so a stewards enquiry for example will definitely hold things up. If the result is not known when the next race is selected then it will be picked up when the following race is selected if the result is known then.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
