Help structuring a trigger

Postby Smokin Joe » Sun Jun 01, 2008 8:38 pm

As a newbie I would be very grateful for any help with my request.

I back under 2.5 goals in some football matches. This obviously means that I will either back unders or lay overs (depending on which price is best).

I have been able to create a trigger which places a bet 10 mins pre KO (and it looks at whether backing unders or laying overs is the best bet).

However, as there sometimes isn't much liquidity I won't always get my entire bet matched (even though I only ask for the best available price).

So, what I want to do is place a bet 10 minutes pre KO, but if that entire bet isn't matched then I cancel it and then place another bet at the next best price (bearing in mind this might be a lay of overs and the original bet was a back of unders), and if that isn't matched fully I go again etc...

2 key things are:
1 - A tally of matched bets need to be kept as each bet will get progressively smaller until I have my full stake matched
2 - I will have a minimum acceptable price, and I can't place any bets below that price.

I have an idea as to how to structure this trigger but would be grateful for any assistance as there will probably be a more efficient way from those who know the capabilities of the software.

TIA

What I decided to do was fire off my original bet (it is F-120) 10 minutes pre Kick Off.

I then have some code which looks for "CANCELLED" in the Bet Ref field, and if it finds it it then clears the columns T:W.

So my thinking is that if the bet isn't matched in its entirety within 2 minutes it is cancelled and a new F-120 bet is fired off at the new best price (taking into account any stakes already placed).

This continues on at 2 minute intervals until my entire stake has been filled. In other words I get 5 goes at getting my bets on, that should suffice.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
