Gary's Racing Post Tissue code

Postby London_Calling » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:50 am

As posted here: [urlhttp://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2839&highlight=racing+post+tissue+prices[/url]

I know I must be daft but I can't figure it out. I guess it requires action by me because there is nothing on the event sheet, but where do I start - fwiw, I have inserted my Racing Post username and password in the const in the declaration section of the module sheet.

But after that . . . I can't even find the 9.00am kick off . . . c would someone please walk me through the process, or at least describe the beginning?

Much appreciated!

Hi London,

not sure what the problem is? Working fine for me?

All I do is load BA - todays UK horses in quick pick, load Excel and spreadsheet, enable
macros and WAIT - about 2 minutes on my laptop. Once program not busy then link BA
to Excel. Column Y should show RP prices? Then you can use or compare these in order
to activate triggers or make judgements based on your personal criteria.

Hope I got it right because I mainly do greyhounds.

Ttfn - Michael :)

Thanks for looking in, Michael. OK . . .

All I do is:
1. load BA - todays UK horses in quick pick
2. load Excel and spreadsheet
3. enable macros and WAIT - about 2 minutes on my laptop. Once program not busy then link BA to Excel.

1. Sure.
2. "load Excel and spreadsheet" - do you mean connecting BA to the workbook?
3. "enable macros" - I'm not sure what you mean here?

I'm also thrown a little bit anyway by having nothing on the Event sheet, but I guess the time function addresses that?

I'm very sorry for being so thick about this . . .

All you do is link Betting Assistant to the spreadsheet and it does the rest. Are you referring to a Worksheet_Change event? It doesn't use one. It uses a custom formula. All the code is in module1. Look at column Y of the worksheet. You will see it uses the function getTissuePrice() the code for which is in module1.

It takes a few minutes when you first link the spreadsheet because it accesses one web page for every race of today's racing. It only does this once so when you change markets there are no further delays. You should give it chance to do this, it may even take up to 5 minutes.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
