Excel In Play Status Not Working

Postby ADDA » Thu Apr 29, 2010 3:43 am

Hi all,

I have noticed that on certain races, with Excel integration, the "Not In Play" field does not change to "In Play". Basically, the race completes and the market becomes "Suspended" without the field ever having changed to "In Play".

I have noticed this happening in particular with greyhound races and it seems to happen with some smaller scale horse races too.

I have also seen that usually the countdown timer to the start of the race does not co-incide with the race actually starting (there is often a 1 minute or so delay from the time that the countdown timer reaches 0).

Can anyone please help with some of the following:
* Why don't some races change to "In Play"
* Is it possible to fix this?
* Is there any workaround solution for this if not?
* Is it possible to tell which races will change to "In Play" and which races will not change to "In Play"?

Thanks very much, any help will be greatly appreciated. Any related information is also welcome.

It's not a bug in the program. Most greyhound race markets are not available to bet in play. As mak says cell I3 will contain Y if the market will be available to bet in play.

The countdown timer refers to the scheduled start of the race. Races rarely start at the scheduled time. A 1 minute delay is perfectly normal.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the response.

Just to clarify - do greyhound races therefore close betting before the race even begins? That is, if there is an N in cell I3, the market will become suspended at the start of a race?

Thanks again

If they have pictures for the greyhound race they will suspend at the actual start. If they don't, then it will be at the scheduled race time.

Thanks guys.

I was watching some US horse races last night, and they seemed to suspend without going "In Play". I looked for info in I3 and didn't see any thing. Whats happening in these cases?

:)

US races don't go in play.

It's also worth noting that US races very rarely go off at the scheduled time and it isn't unusual for the actual off time to be vastly different to the advertised time.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
