Noob Excel Questions

Postby Jimmyjet1978 » Mon May 10, 2010 9:12 am

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me out.

What I am trying to do is back horses in various different meetings across the board, in both the win and the place market.

I have managed so far to download the "place_bets" spreadsheet that is provided in the forum, and I have seemingly successfully set this up for the first race, in the win market. Obviously I'll have to wait for the first race to ensure that the triggers are working properly. All good.

However before I start messing around with what I have already done, I need to know if it is possible to set up the triggers for both the win, and the place market, and if I need seperate sheets for this. Also the fact I have selected the first race from the quick picks list, will it now recognise the horses from the other meetings I have inputted into the Excel sheet, or do I have to manually select the next race from the quick picks list?

Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to use a separate workbook for the place markets.

1) Take a copy of the place_bets spreadsheet and rename it to something like "place_bets_place_markets"

2) Open this new workbook using File|Open in the win markets workbook.

3) Select "New page" from the application menu to create a new tab page.

4) Select Market|Add to quick pick list|All UK Place (assuming you require UK racing markets)

5) Link this tab page to Excel as you did the win markets. Be sure to select the place markets workbook from the drop down list when setting up the link.

Also the fact I have selected the first race from the quick picks list, will it now recognise the horses from the other meetings I have inputted into the Excel sheet, or do I have to manually select the next race from the quick picks list?

You may not have noticed in the instructions accompanying place_bets that it mentions selecting "Markets|Auto select markets|At specific time before the off" from the application menu. You need to use this option for it to auto select each market.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
