Excel Triggered Betting - Basic Questions

Postby freda » Sat Aug 21, 2010 9:51 am

I need a little guidance in triggered betting via Excel. I am comfortable with the overall concept, but a little confused over the application of the concept!

When I link to an Excel spreadsheet, a lot of information is displayed. Most of this is self-explanatory, but there are a few cells which I do not understand. Is there a definitive list of what the information in each cell represents anywhere? Also, is there a list of recommended formats for each cell anywhere?

Triggered betting - which cells should I enter the information in? I can guess from the example spreadsheet, but I'd really like to know for sure. Also, which cells should I never use myself as they contain automatic data? For example, I know that I should never use the 'special trigger cells', J2 and Q2.

I have spent a lot of time looking through the forum (honest!) but I can't seem to find a basic guide that deals with these sorts of issues - can some kindly soul point me in the right direction?

Many thanks indeed.

Have you looked at the user guide? Select user guide from the help menu, There is a section in the guide named "Using Excel".

Gary, many thanks for the swift reply. Yes, I have read the User Guide. I didn't find the explicit information I am after.

I am aware that I can probably work it all out through trial and error, but I am reluctant to use this approach with my money at stake!

Many thanks.

We are working on a new user guide at the moment. If there are only a few cells you don't understand can you tell me what they are and I will explain them.

They are all listed in the user guide.

Triggering bets: columns Q to S
Special trigger cells: J2 and Q2

which cells should I never use myself as they contain automatic data?

Columns A to P
Columns T to X, but you can use all cells in the range T1:X3

You can use all other cells as BA does not write to them.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
