what will happen ?

Postby brecki » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:44 am

Hi,

I submit a Lay or Back bet 5 minutes before the off and excel is told to trigger an auto level profit bet to close the open position using BACK-SP or LAY-SP exactly 30 seconds before the off. That all works fine, but now two questions appear to me:

1a) what will happen to the greening bet when the market is suspended for any reason at the time the clock shows 00:00:30 ? Will it be triggered as soon as the market reopens or will it not be accepted and cancelled ?

1b) If the bet gets triggered when the market reopens, may be the odds have changed heavy because of a non-starter with a high reduction factor. So maybe my bet is absolute nonsens. What can I do in this case to tell Excel to recalculate the stake on the new odds before the bet gets triggered?

2) Sometimes it happens that the race is already IP when the clock is down to 30 seconds. What will happen with my greening bet, is Back-SP or LAY-SP still a valid trigger ? If not, can I tell the programm to recognize whether the race is already IP or not so it can just use BACK or LAY in this case ?

Thx !

If the market is suspended when the bet request reaches Betfair's server then it will be rejected and column T will show EVENT_SUSPENDED
BA will not attempt to place the bet again so if this is a major concern you will need to detect this and trigger the bet again.

1b) If the bet gets triggered when the market reopens, may be the odds have changed heavy because of a non-starter with a high reduction factor. So maybe my bet is absolute nonsens. What can I do in this case to tell Excel to recalculate the stake on the new odds before the bet gets triggered?

Bet doesn't get re-triggered by BA, see answer to 1a)

2) Sometimes it happens that the race is already IP when the clock is down to 30 seconds. What will happen with my greening bet, is Back-SP or LAY-SP still a valid trigger ? If not, can I tell the programm to recognize whether the race is already IP or not so it can just use BACK or LAY in this case ?

Shouldn't happen, especially UK races which never start before the scheduled start time to my knowledge. Unless of course your PC time is out. If it does happen however then BACK-SP and LAY-SP work the same as BACK and LAY.
ps. before you say, it happens all the time with US racing

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
