Trigger

Postby alrodopial » Sun Nov 14, 2010 9:00 am

Hi,

Using excel I want to place a lay bet, if not matched (or partially matched) place it at SP and if not matched place it in running.
What trigger should I use?
Or should I combine triggers/bets with VBA?

Will the "LAY-SP-IP" work?

Thanks

-SP and -IP cannot be used together. If you specify -SP then any unmatched amount will be placed at SP when the market turns in play. Betfair will not leave you with an unmatched amount when -SP is used so -IP is not necessary. Therefore you only need LAY-SP

Thanks Garry,

a basic question:
what happens if at SP the amount you want to lets say lay is not available?
(there are not enough backers/layers/amounts)?

As far as I know this cannot happen, but can happen if you placed an SP before the off, specified an odds limit and the SP odds were at the limit.

Sorry I should have mentioned earlier that -SP will not convert a lay bet to SP if the liability is less than £10. See the following from Betfair's help section.
Can I request to ‘Take SP’ on an unmatched lay bet if my liability is less than £10? (Minimum liability)

Yes, but at the off if the liability on the bet is less than £10 the bet will be cancelled and will not be included in the SP reconciliation. Betfair do not allow you to specify SP and In Play "keep bets" together so you cannot specify you want the unmatched amount kept in play. There currently isn't a trigger in BA that will do it manually.

For example: As an Exchange layer I decide to lay a horse for £5 @ 2.0. It is trading at 3.0 so my bet is unmatched. I then request to ‘Take SP’ at the off if my bet is still unmatched at 2.0. The system will allow this request but if unmatched at the off it will lapse.
Also, if a customer for example asks to lay £50 at 1.5, convert to SP if unmatched, and £40 gets taken leaving £10 lay at 1.5 the balance will cancel at the off. It will not convert into an SP lay bet as the revised balance at the off was less than the minimum £10 liability allowed for SP bets. Customers will be made aware of this at the off.

Garry one last question:

I place before off a lay bet (trigger LAY-SP) with liability of 10, my bet is partially matched will the remaining bet accepted from BF (and placed/settled at SP) since now it's liability is lower than 10?

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
