INVALID_PRICE

Postby andyv » Tue Nov 30, 2010 5:35 pm

Just created a new excel sheet to trigger either back or lay bets depending on various criteria.

My "odds" column (R) contains the formula "=IF(AL6<>5,"",IF(AE6="bet",AN6,IF(AE6="lay",AM6,"")))", where AN6 contains the odds I want to lay at and AM6 the bet odds.

Columns R, AM and AN are formatted as numeric.

When bets are triggered(e.g. AL6 = 5), the bet reference is populated with "INVALID_PRICE".

If the stake is £2 or greater, no bet is made however if the stake is less than £2, say £0.1, then an un-matched bet of £0.1 at odds of 1000 is made and left un-matched.

If I simply populate column R with a valid number, the bet is matched.

The implication seems to be that the odds column is not numeric. What have I missed?

How are columns AM and AN populated?

It does look like the odds are being interpreted as zero. If you manually enter 0 in column R and 0.1 in column S then you end up with £2 stuck at 1000 and INVALID_PRICE

They are also populated with formulas with a format of numeric.

AM - "=IF($W$1=1,H5,IF($W$1=2,J5,IF($W$1=3,L5,"")))"
AN - "=IF($W$2=1,F5,IF($W$2=2,D5,IF($W$2=3,B5,"")))"

Got it.

Sorry Gary, my fault. The trigger was being activated by one formula and the odds by a slightly different one.

Your reference to the zero value pointed me to the problem.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
