In-running bet calculation

Postby Roger » Fri Feb 11, 2011 6:42 pm

Can I please confirm that, because of the BF bet placement delay, it is not possible to place a bet in-running calculated to a particular amount at a particular odd, since the odds (in horse racing) will be changing constantly. So, assuming a lay bet was made before the race, there is no guaranteed way of getting a compensating back bet matched in-running?

Hi Roger,

You should be fine placing bets in running for horses as I think there's only a 1 sec delay max. By the time everyone reacts to the price on offer you should normally match the price requested or better

Thanks, osknows. I thought it was more than that. It will still clobber any calculation, but I would be happy to get a matched back bet on, so I will see if I can live with that.

Is there ever a guarantee of anything in gambling ?

But if your strategy is designed correctly you can achieve a longterm positive expectation which is what counts.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
