COM Interface timing issues?

Postby ians1711 » Fri Feb 18, 2011 3:06 pm

Hi
I use the COM interface to step through a number of selected markets - some of these are set to start at the same time. So I use ba.openMarket to select the next market. If the conditions are right then I will place one or more bets and then try and move on to the next market. Each separate step is controlled by a case statement in VB. Sometimes the conditions were supposed to be good for a bet but no bet was placed. I suspect I may be moving through the steps too quickly for BettingAssistant. What can I check in my spreadsheet to ensure that the previous action was completed?

For example, when I request the next market - I take a note of the eventid i expect and only carry on when the spreadsheet cell N3 contains the expected eventid. And when I place BACK in the trigger column - I then wait for a valid number to be placed in the bet ref column before moving on to the next market.

Should this be sufficient??

Thanks

That sounds sufficient. If no bet was placed then surely it doesn't move on to the next market. Are you saying it gets stuck on that market at that point with BACK in the trigger column and nothing happening? Could you send an example spreadsheet that demonstrates this problem to admin@gruss-software.co.uk ?

Gary
Thanks for the quick reply. The problem I see is that I do move to the next market, but the expected bet was never placed. I'll send my spreadsheet when I get home this evening.

Gary
I was able to monitor the markets more closely over the weekend, and think I understand some of the reasons why the bets were not placed. One reason was that the market was already closed 5 minutes before kick-off - presumably because the match was abandoned. Another reason was that it took more than 5 minutes to deal with all the matches at 15:00 on Saturday, so some of them were closed because they had already kicked off.

I'll send you the spreadsheet if I think there is any unexplained reasons I can't see - but for the moment it looks as though it might be OK

Thanks

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
