It sounds like you have verify bets ticked and it's displaying the popup to enter your odds and stake off screen which is preventing the rest of the program from accepting user input. If it was truly frozen it wouldn't make the pinging sound.

I think your problem started after clicking to place a bet. I cannot believe you need to restart the computer though. It can be closed with the task manager by pressing alt-ctrl-del, selecting the processes tab and ending the process named "Betting Assistant.exe"

Once you manage to restart BA the first thing you should do is select "Reset place bet popup position" from the options menu so that next time you place a bet the popup appears on screen.

If it starts happening regularly there are ways of diagnosing this if it's BA that is causing the problem. I will need your cooperation though as it involves running a program to produce a memory dump and sending the log to me. Without doing this I couldn't even begin to guess what the cause is.

Please let me know if it starts happening regularly. I could send instructions on what to do before it happens again so you are prepared if you are interested. Please let me know and I will PM the details.

If it happens again happy to help track down any problems, seems to have been a one off for now.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
