Horse notes

Postby DFK » Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:22 pm

I have transferred my horse notes from the tagadab desktop by copy and paste onto my normal windows desktop, but i can't get them to appear on the program. I have gone into files in preferences and pointed at my notes, but they will not appear. Any ideas Mark?

Are you absolutely sure the directory you have specified in BA matches where the file is located? It's the only thing I can think of.

What is the exact folder name you have entered in BA?

The horse notes database folder is C:\Documents and Settings\MR SMITH\HORSE NOTES and the actual horse notes folder on the desktop is of course HORSE NOTES

If you click the Windows start button, click "Run program", enter "C:\Documents and Settings\MR SMITH\HORSE NOTES" does it open a folder containing the notes file?

If you have Vista or Windows 7 then you enter the folder name in "Search programs and files" instead of clicking "Run program".

It doesn't sound like it is the right folder. If the folder is on the desktop then the folder name will be something like "C:\Documents and Settings\MR SMITH\Desktop\HORSE NOTES". Does that work?

Sorry I give up. I am convinced you haven't entered the folder name in BA where the file actually is. The fact it won't open the folder from the start menu backs this theory up.

Try copying the file BA_Horse_Notes.xml to the folder "C:\temp". Then enter "C:\temp" as the location in BA. If this works then it proves it's not BA failing to read the file.

Hi :)

maybe this is just too simple but in Options>Preferences>Files why can you
not simply "browse" to the correct folder - or am I missing something?

Ttfn - Michael

P.S. As you say - if you already did this then are you sure the "notes" are
actually there? (including correct file extension - test by making new note)?

Thanks very much for your time.
I created a new text document, copied all the data in the XML file into the new text document and re-saved it as an XML file. I then renamed the file back to the original BA_Horse_notes.xml and put it into a folder on the desktop. It now works fine. I think there is a problem copying it straight from Tagadab onto Windows XP as it works fine copying from Tagadab to Windows Vista.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
