Hi Mitch

Quick question, and this is a random question off the top of my head, and not 'one of my ideas.'

Could some user-friendly software be created - not needing to be an Excel buff to use it in that application - where you could, say, lay a horse and click a button that would mean as soon as it hit the right price, an automatic trade was made.

Example -

I want to to make £2 a race

I decide horse A is useless and will drift in the race so I want to lay it.

My software would have a box and ask how much I want to make on the race. I would type in £2.

The software would now calculate what the lowest price needed to be hit for the minimum amount of stake to make a £2 win all around. I am never really good at explaining what I mean but I think that is fairly clear.

I would probably also suggest a in-build process where if it did go the wrong way, you could select a loss to take rather than a full hit if you so wished.

Such software might be available, but it seems like a fair idea. I am not sure what kind of stakes are needed to be involved to make a £2 profit a race, and of course you would still need trading skills.

I always think the more user-friendly kit is made like BA, the more use you can get out of it.

Other than that, if you can get rid of the Betfair delay and make my crappy computer much faster, i think that's it now. I am happy to say I am making money steadily laying via BA, which suits me, but I always want more!

dog, I did a similar sheet for someone on here a while back. It's easy enough to code just by monitoring the profit/loss column and odds available. Basicaly he was using it to green up on football matches when he was at work. Just had boxes for him to enter his mininum profit he wnted and a stop loss figure.

I'll see if I still have a copy, but if not the maths involved are very simple.

Thanks for that.

I am utterly useless with Excel but would learn some more basics if it helped. I prefer it to be idiot proof if possible, but would like a look if it was about.

Cheers for your help.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
