Excel - Refreshing Data in Play / Triggers

Postby Pug Munter » Fri Jun 09, 2006 1:30 pm

I kind of accidently stumbled upon this software a few days ago and from a first look it seems really excellent (but am aware it's a pre release version for testing so am taking care with small stakes etc. to start with). Gary, many thanks for making this freely available.

I've used the Excel facility to set up some basic triggered bets in play and it has worked very well, and I haven't had any problem with the refresh rates.

But here is something I'd like to do :

in running, have all runners' data refreshing every second (preferably in one sheet) and record all of the last 5 seconds prices for each. So at any time, each runner would have five lines of data with the 5th line being the current price and each second the lines would all move up one and the earliest line would drop off. That way, trends in prices could be analysed and used for a trigger.

Is there any automated way to do this please, such as avoiding the need to select each runner individually from the Excel menu in BA and keeping the stored data down to the last 5 seconds per runner so as to keep the data manageable?

Any thoughts welcome.
Many thanks.

You can't do that with the software alone but it's very do-able using vba in Excel.

Are you familiar with vba or just the spreadsheet formulae?

Thanks for your reply Mitch.

I'm OK with IF statements etc but have no vba knowledge but maybe I'll have a bash and see if I can pick up some basic vba. Else, it may be worth paying someone a few bob to put something together for me!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
