Why are my offset bets being cancelled?

Postby Ian1506 » Mon Jul 15, 2013 10:50 am

Hi folks. I am betting on the UK Greyhound markets and have placed a number of bets using excel where the initial lay bet is fully matched and the offset bet is sucessfully submitted with a TL1 and SL4.
Last night three of these offset bets were cancelled and of course two of them went on to win. I was betting on the 3rd fav for each bet.
The initial bets are placed between 60 to 45 seconds before the off using small $1 stakes.
Can anyone tell me why this would happen and more importantly, what strategies I can put in place to stop it happening.
Due to the time difference I am not able to monitor these bets manually.

Gary, If you look at this I have attached the entry from the data file. ...4324 is the initla lay bet.
Processing tick offset for ref:28240884324, ticks:1, fixed odds:0, level profit:True
15072013 05:29:30:222: Processing stop loss for ref:28240884324, ticks:4, fixed odds:0, level loss:False, sliding:False, chase:False, allow in play:True
15072013 05:29:30:222: Excel tick offset matched column status updated. ref:28240884324, offsetRef:F, partialOffsetBet:False
15072013 05:29:30:222: Stop loss for ref:28240884324 cancelled because offset bet fully matched or cancelled.

Are you sure they weren't cancelled at the off because they were unmatched? The log would still look like that. The only thing is the time in the log would be after the off so can you check if your PC's time is accurate?

I'm not sure how I would tell wether they were unmatched or not but I did check my pc time against time.is and found that I was out by 22 seconds. Hopefully this will be the issue. Thanks for your quick reply.
Cheers Ian

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
