Triggers (yet again)... sorry

Postby Bassdrinker » Tue Mar 25, 2025 2:51 pm

Good afternoon.

Sorry to be a pain again but if anyone could clarify the use of triggers it would help.

I'm currently using a trigger of 'BACK-PL5-SL2.5P-L-IP' and assume (always dangerous) that this breaks down as

BACK Back bet
PL5 Aim for 5% profit
SL2.5P Set loss at 2.5%
L Level out
IP Keep in play

I'm sometimes getting the situation where the lay trigger is not firing because the odds have gone below the stop loss of 2.5%.
To prevent this, I think that I need to add a chase parameter every 0.2 seconds. Hopefully this will make sure the lay bet is at least matched even if not at an optimum price.

Am i right in thinking that the stop loss goes after the level and before the in play? Making the trigger BACK-PL5-SL2.5P-L-SLC0.2-IP?

Thanks for any help.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
