Any idea why parts of the program keep getting blacked out?

Postby Captain Sensible » Thu Aug 22, 2019 2:37 pm

Been happening quite a lot recently where parts of the program turn black like below, I'm guessing it's some memory issue but task manager isn't showing any issues or anything near the peak performance of my laptop :(

Have you changed windows display settings recently? I cannot quite replicate it, but if you turn on high contrast settings then you get a black background similar to your screenshot. It's almost like it's only applying it to some of the text. It's not anything I have changed in the software, it has to be some setting on your PC. You may have to resort to resetting Windows. I am sure it's not a bug. Could also be the .Net framework is corrupted.

Any idea how to reset the .net framework, I've tried reinstalling BA but it won't let me delete the folder left behind after uninstalling from the control panel because of the Flash.ocx file. Only occurs with BA no other program and not a memory issue or low processor power almost as if it's like missing rollover images. Drives me nuts :( only saving grace is most of my stuff is automated.

At least I'm not going mad then :)

Only happen for me with BA no other programs, and only occurs if I switch focus to another program . I have to minimise and then maximise to get rid of them. When yours happens you'll have to switch markets to get it working again.

minimizing the program didn't help
loading a new market from qpl (auto select) sometimes did the trick but not all the times
creating a new tab and loading manually the "blanked" market worked
restarting the program and manually open markets worked
more testing is coming
suggestions?

When I lose half the screen I usually have to open the market in another window from the market menu list rather than the QPL (right click Open market in new menu) Then once that's back switching market in the original window and back usually sorted it as far as I can remember. The half black screen is the worst as that's harder to sort and you never know your positions on the bottom runners :)

When you lose menu headings minimising and then maximising can get them back or sometimes even clicking the menu puls that one back.

posting again here as this is the relative post
very few tests, works so far but who knows what will happen next

just install/pick a new theme and restart as the link below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aawj2M5eqZE

my registry key at
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager

now shows the below(instead of the "...\Aero\aerolite.msstyles") (and the new background theme):

problem not solved
Most of the times it appears when "log multiple sheets quick link" is activated and ba auto loads markets after some time of the initial start of the program.
Problem reduces if the first market of the qpl is auto loaded right after the start of the "log multiple sheets quick link"
In a "blanked" tab if next race from the qpl is auto loaded usually problem continues
but if you pick a race manually from qpl or market tree the problem usually disappears and next races (picked auto from qpl)
are ok (problem may occur again after some races)
In a few words
manually picking/loading a race improves (almost resolves) the problem
and
autopicking races from qpl makes the problem appear (after time of inactivity/ba minimized?)
I didn't try any of the other solutions proposed
but the problem must be solved somehow

I have exactly the same problem.
Sometimes closing and reopening the market works, but many times it didn't and the market remain obscured.
Very big problem honestly

If the bottom runners disappear I usually find the oly thing is to open the market in a new tab. If it's just the tick values etc on the top menu or bet manager details I can usually get it back by minimising and then maximising the program.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
