Multiple TABS not holding connection

Postby DesB » Sun Jun 14, 2020 10:08 pm

I have multiple market TABS all hooked into the same Workbook and spreadsheet. Market updates are picked up by VBA code and bets are triggered. All works fine except for if I leave it unattended. Some of the TABS drop their connection and stop updating the market and turn red. If I click the TAB with my mouse then the connection is re-established and everything is working fine again. Is there a setting I can use to stop this happening so that I can leave BA unattended.? Or is there some way of making BA poll through the TABS to keep them active ?

Hopefully someone else has had this issue and resolved it

Thanks

Hi,

When the tab turns red its because your're not on that tab currently so the software is telling you that the market status has changed from its current status, e.g. suspended / closed.
This happens whether you're using Excel or not.
It doesn't indicate that the connection has been lost.
The software will continue refreshing sheets that are connected to tabs that have a red background.
Clicking on a tab does not re-establish a connection to Excel, the connection must have been established the whole time.
So there must be something else happening.
What should have happened on this particular tab that hasn't happened causing you to think that the connection was dropped?

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

These are tabs that are on horse racing win and place markets an hour or so in the future.

But looking at it again, I see that the TAB for a future race has indeed gone RED but is still updating on the spreadsheet. I shan't touch anything and confirm that all processes okay. I obviously didn't look close enough last time or looked at the wrong date ! I'm really sorry to have wasted a bit if your time

Hi Mark,

On a similar subject, is there any way of stopping the excel trigger feed automatically after the race is closed?

Hi,

Once a market has closed, no more data for that market can be sent to Excel nor can any bets be triggered but the software will continue to monitor for any Q2 command such as moving to the next market in the Quick Pick List.
If you want to disconnect the sheet from Betting Assistant then you should use the Disconnect option from the Excel Menu in Betting Assistant but that has to be done manually as there is no automatic option.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
