Slowness due to large number of matched bets

Postby verance » Tue Oct 27, 2020 8:04 pm

Hi,

I've been trading the US President market for a while and have several thousand matched bets. Now every time I open the market in BA or place a bet, the app hangs for about 10 seconds. It's just this market so presume it's the number of matched bets.

This happens whether I place a bet in app or via Excel and I've tried with full stream or a 200ms refresh rate. I've also tried the "Place bets in background" option when linking to Excel. But same issue every time. (Getting really bad performance if I try to open this market on the website too)

Is there any thing else I can try?

I'm afraid it was never designed to handle several thousands bets on a single market (sounds like the website wasn't either). I will look into this when I get the chance.

Thanks Gary, obviously not a big issue as it doesn't happen very often. And Gruss has handled it much better than the Betfair website and mobile app.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
