Tick offset & Stop Loss functionality

Postby chaser » Wed May 09, 2007 8:10 am

Hello Gary / Mark
I use the ladder interface with tick offset and stop loss levels set. When I am watching a race, I switch to the standard interface so I have got the benefit of the silks. If during running I want to level profit, Back or Lay, I can't seem to cancel the tick offset or stop loss settings. Should I be able to do this ?

Hi,This seems to be the case anytime and it has lost me more money trying to get to grips with this new software in a few days than I have lost in 8 years.

Just a moment ago I was in level profit thinking that I had cancelled all bets a good 10 seconds before it went into running then ,when it did go into running a bet was placed, that I thought had been cancelled, and all my efforts and money went down the Betfair drain .It is very dissapointing.I might revert to another piece of software that performs in a way that I understand just for the time being .

The only worry is if I want to try this software when it has some of its foibles taken out how will I be able to try it?

Will I be allowed even a short trial because I like the concept and feel that Gary does deserve some recompense for the enjoyment I have had from his efforts.(But I don't mean thew last few days :( )

Are you saying that an unmatched bet that is cancelled when the race turns in-play gets resubmitted when the market opens again?

Yes ,Thats the way it seemed I had level profit for a few seconds after it settled down then a bet was placed and matched and the prices went quickly the wrong way to prevent me recovering.

Yesterday I had a profitable position on a horse pre-race.
I pressed the cancel button next to the tick offset and stop loss boxes, I also pressed the 'cancel all bets' button and then switched to the standard interface and was watching the race on RUK when I noticed bets had been fired which turned my profit into a loss.
I did expect that the 'cancel all bets' button would override the tick offset and or the stop loss settings.

Tick offset & Stop Loss functionality

Hi Gary / Mark
As you haven't commented on this topic, I am wondering if you have missed seeing it.
I thought that the 'Cancel all bets' button would override any pre-set Tick Offset or Stoploss settings.
It doesn't happen as in the case I described, and the problem has also been found by Oddson.
Hope you can clarify this.

The cancel all button does not override stop loss which is an oversight on my part and I admit it can also mean the stop loss bet gets placed in play which is a bit silly. Please accept my apologies, I will rectify this as soon as possible.

The 'Cancel all bets' button now cancels stop loss bets and the stop loss bet will not be carried forward into the in play market (ver 1.0.0.17)

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
