A Mind of its own?

Postby oddson » Wed May 09, 2007 5:32 pm

I have been using Betfair Trader for a while with no problems except that I wanted the offset that was on another piece of software and is now on BA so I

downloaded BA Yesterday .

Using the tick offset I fired a bet at £2 00 at odds 3.3 it fired the reverse bet £2.03 all well and good but then without me doing anything at all it

fired another lay at 3.3 which I tried to reverse by unticking all and placing a manual bet .Guess what it reversed again. How do I stop this continual reversing? (This was my second attempt as last night the same thing happened but I thought that I must have done something inadvertantly)

I closed the program and fired up B Trader and placed my saving bet.Phhew!!! This thing is dangerous.

On another less impotant note, how do you alter the price in those 6 boxes on the ladder screen?

Many thanks

Explanation of how Tick Offset works in Betting Assistant

Using this option, i.e. the tick offset value is not zero, when you place a bet and once it is matched then an opposite bet is triggered at lower or higher odds depending on whether your initial bet was back or lay.
So for example, you initially back a selection at odds of 4.0, a tick offset of 1 would trigger a lay bet at 3.95 being the next lower odds that are valid and a tick offset of 2 would trigger a lay bet at 3.9 and so on. It is important that you are aware that if the initial bet is partially matched then the remainder is cancelled and the offset bet is placed at the matched stake.

On another less impotant note, how do you alter the price in those 6 boxes on the ladder screen?

To change the values double click on the boxes.

Cheers,
Mark

I still think there should be a checkbox for tick offset as well as the number of ticks selector, so you can turn offsetting an and off in a hurry

Hi Pete,

I have noted your request for a checkbox to turn on and off tick offset.

Cheers,
Mark

Thank you for your reply Mark and if PeteB's suggestion will allow a quick switch to allow single trades to be placed without an automatic reverse bet then I think that is an essential addition.

I am getting to grips with this ladder trading however and I like it.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
